    Software Engineer

    Funded Position

    Basic Engineering Concepts & Technologies, Inc. (BecTech) is a Woman-Owned Small Business program management and engineering services provider to the Department of Defense (DoD) Agencies. The Combat System Software Development team is seeking a Software Engineer to join their program in King George, VA. The qualified applicant will support the Navy's Enterprise Modeling and Simulation initiatives. Candidates will analyze real-world requirements which will then be translated into a simulation that approximates actual Navy computer and radar equipment. Candidates will also work through unit testing and integration to verify program requirements and validate software behavior in the target environment. The Software Engineer’s functions include but are not limited to providing daily professional support to the client and Program Manager and will have the following responsibilities:

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop and maintain complex real-time combat system wrap around simulations.
    • Utilize software development tracking tools that capture all new development requirements, track software defects, and update implementation status of each item
    • Establish and maintain software development tasks and reporting the technical progress
    • Experience/Expertise in C++ software development and maintenance experience, as well as software integration testing with combat system wrap around simulations.
    • Work with process improvement initiatives, such as Six Sigma, ISO 9001:2008 and CMMI Level 5

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Experience with enterprise level source control, Integrated Development Environment, and build environment tools.
    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics with a concentration in software development
    • US citizenship; must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two (2) years general combat system experience in any of the following: combat systems design/engineering, computer program development, certification, simulation engineering, or simulation computer program development.
    • Five (5) years specific experience.
    • Familiarity with Software Engineering Practices and Software Design Patterns
    • Basic platform system experience (e.g., Windows, Unix, etc).
    • Model Driven System Engineering (MDSE) experience
    • Experience with real-time Modeling & Simulation architectures
    • Current Secret Clearance

    Systems Software Engineer

    The Systems/ Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the Standard Missile (SM) and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) Technical Representative Office (TechRep). This Systems Engineer position is located in Tucson, Arizona and reports to the TechRep Program Manager. An active Security Clearance of at least SECRET is required. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Supports Missile systems development and design work that may include trade studies, logic design, I/O design, firmware development, embedded code, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, analog or digital systems engineering, safety critical functions and product quality assurance activities.
    • Supports and makes assessments of systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
    • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of system enhancements. Supports algorithm and software code peer reviews.
    • Coordinate the execution of system engineering reviews IAW DOD Instruction 5000.02 and the NAVSEA TRM (Technical Review Manual).
    • Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.
    • Supports the development and execution of tests to ensure the system’s hardware and software meets documented requirements.
    • Work with designers and integration engineers to identify, analyze, and resolve operating/hardware system problems.
    • Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance as required.
    • Reviews system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
    • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
    • Participates in special projects as required.
    • Generates technical reports and white papers.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Systems Engineer Configuration Managment

    Funded Position

    Work Location: Tucson, AZ

    The contractor shall support the Technical Representative Office (TechRep), located in Tucson, Arizona. The selected individual will provide technical representative services to the government at contractor facilities in support of the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Program. This position requires frequent communication and collaboration with other government and industry partners. The candidate will be responsible for the entire RAM CMDM process to include: attending relevant CMDM meetings, understanding/participating in the technical discussions related to changes contained in the CMDM package, informing the Front Office ahead of time when a CMDM package is expected to arrive for approval, articulating the details, impact, and technical validity of the change to the Front Office staff for approval, and maintaining a local log of the progress of the change package. The candidate will additionally be responsible for mitigating daily challenges while working with functional leadership, program leadership, and internal/external customers. The candidate will participate in determining objectives of assignments, plans, schedules and will arrange their own activities in accomplishing objectives

     

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

    • Performs CMDM support to Engineers that oversee the development and design of trade studies, safety critical functions, and quality assurance activities for missile systems.
    • Required to attend engineering design meetings to stay on top of all changes in design, hardware, and coding.
    • Prefer an understanding of missile systems, logic design, I/O design, firmware development, embedded code, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, analog or digital systems engineering.
    • Attend system engineering reviews and work with engineers to track and manage all related documentation as outlined in the DOD Instruction 5000.02 and the NAVSEA Technical Review Manual.
    • Review engineering change data and coordinate changes with engineers.
    • Ensure that customer and internal configuration management requirements are implemented.
    • Maintain government record of configuration management activities.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

    • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
    • Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
    • Professional certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
